Save before you leave
This webpage does not store your report. Download the fillable PDF before closing, refreshing, following another link, or switching devices. Save the PDF in a folder or cloud drive you can reach later. The browser will warn you if you try to leave with undownloaded changes.
The RMS habit
Typing into a person, vehicle, property, evidence, custody, or note form does not add it to the report by itself. You must select its Add button. Repeat for each separate record.
Starting a report
- Choose Original for a new report. The system creates a case number using year, month, assignment sequence, and your last name.
- Choose Supplemental for follow-up information and enter the exact existing case number.
- Only the student identity should be real. Names, addresses, identifiers, and events inside the report must be fictional.
Not every field applies
An RMS contains fields for many situations. Leave a field or module blank when the fictional scenario does not provide the information or it does not apply. Do not invent facts just to fill every line. Validation is an instructional checklist, not a lock; you may print or download at any time.
People, property, and evidence
- Add each involved person separately and select the appropriate role. Age is calculated from date of birth using the incident date.
- Add each vehicle and property item separately. Record identifiers exactly as the scenario provides them.
- Add evidence first, then add every chain-of-custody event for that evidence item in chronological order.
- When property is returned, document the recipient, date/time, and whether a return photograph is included. Follow the instructor’s scenario and agency policy.
Scene processing, photos, and sketches
- Select Mark scene processed or Mark scene not processed. Not every call requires processing.
- To add photos, choose the photo button. Select several images together or repeat the button one image at a time. The report accepts up to eight.
- Under every image, enter its photo number, direction/view, and a factual description. The image and its photo-log fields print together on the same PDF page.
- Upload a completed rough sketch or create a basic sketch in the drawing area. Include orientation, scale, fixed reference points, measurements, evidence numbers, and a legend.
Finish and submit
- Review the tables to confirm every intended entry was added.
- Use Check report for training reminders and correct what applies.
- Select Download fillable PDF. Open the saved file and confirm the pages, photos, and text are present.
- Submit the PDF through the system your school uses, such as Canvas, Google Classroom/Drive, Blackboard, Moodle, Brightspace, Schoology, email, or another instructor-designated method.
- If corrections are needed, edit supported PDF fields in a compatible PDF reader, save a revised copy, and resubmit it. Image changes require returning to the webpage and creating a new PDF.
